George Clooney's Downton Abbey debut has been revealed.

A newly released teaser from the newly-married star's guest appearance shows Lady Grantham - played by Elizabeth McGovern - approaching the star from behind.

She says: "Dearest, Lord and Lady Carlisle have asked us over for dinner tonight."

Former ER actor Clooney will play an American wedding guest at the Crawley pile in a special sketch for ITV。

Laura Carmichael - who plays Lady Edith Crawley on the hugely popular ITV show - admitted George's appearance on the show was such a secret that the cast "didn't know if it would actually happen" until he arrived on set.
