Definitely! as history: 1 - Teaches us what happened in the past so that we will not be ignorant of our country's own history. Young people will get to know their country's fascinating history and they would be able to explain to others about it. 2 - more importantly WHY it happened. This leads to critical thinking. In other word the ability to reason. Young people would be able to analyze what went wrong in the past that led to so many struggles and wars. Young people should know the history of their country to truly understand what we stand as a nation; to understand the sacrifices our forefathers have made so we can have the comfortable life we have here, to understand the issues we have faced and overcome. 3 - there's a saying, "Those who don't learn from past mistakes are doomed to repeat them " That's why, the younger generation who would be the future leader of our country should have a certain degree of knowledge in the history of their country. It is important that young people understand their country's custom, culture and relations with other countries. Important lessons such racial harmony could be learned from history textbooks. For instance, the younger generation should be aware of the incident of racial dispute that happened on May 13, 1969 that caused so much bloodshed ( 這我國(guó)家的歷史的例子，要換成你國(guó)家的). Thus, they will understand the importance of unity through history and embrace racial harmony. No one knows what will happen in the future, but the past can help guide us into the future. The lessons of the past are like a map into the future. The map is blurred and maybe even missing pieces, but it is the best we have.
