President Obama continues his overseas state visit after a landing in the Philippines early Monday morning. Obama is expected to highlight a new 10-year defense pact that would extend the presence of US forces in that country.

Pro-Russians have taken over?a local TV station in Donetsk, aiming to foster a Ukraine TV to air only Russian TV. The Kiev government last month blocked the broadcast of Russian channels which serve as a propaganda tool for the Kremlin.

And two new popes joined the rank of sainthood as Pope Francis honored Pope John and Pope John Paul II. Pope Francis invited retired Pope Benedict to join him on the outskirt of St. Peters Square for this historic moment.
