1. an acquired taste

acquire的意思是取得，獲得；購得；學(xué)到，an acquired taste表示后天養(yǎng)成的嗜好；假以時日并多次嘗試而喜歡上的東西。形容某人的話，可能表示某人不是第一眼就會喜歡的類型吧。

Olives are an acquired taste.
橄欖這種東西吃得多就愛吃了。

2. melt away

melt away有這兩個意思：①逐漸消失；逐漸散去

As the police sirens were heard, the crowd started to melt away.
警笛一響，人群就開始散開了。

讀到信時，她的怒火慢慢消失了。
