WAGs (or Wags) is an acronym used particularly by the British tabloid press to describe the wives and girlfriends of high-profile football players, originally the England national football team. The term came into common use during the 2006 FIFA World Cup, although it had been used occasionally before that.

WAGs（或者Wags）是英國小報對職業(yè)足球運動員的老婆或女友的縮寫，最初專指英國球員的家屬。該詞匯首次被大量運用是在2006年的世界杯上，不過也有人稱在之前也有少量運用。

原來，WAG就是wives and girlfriends的首字母縮寫，用中文簡單講也就是“太太團”。這個縮寫首次出現(xiàn)是在06年的德國世界杯上。當(dāng)時英國球員的太太軍團隨球隊齊齊駐扎德國小鎮(zhèn)巴登巴登。要知道這群花枝招展的主兒平日里可都是“非藝即?！薄皇撬嚾司褪悄Ｌ兀睦锬偷米⌒℃?zhèn)的寂寞。于是老公訓(xùn)練，她們就邀約逛街、血拼、喝咖啡，還隨即招來了大批記者跟拍，把人家原住民吵的是翻天覆地、不得安寧。WAG也因此帶上了濃濃的貶義。
