在生活中，有關數(shù)字的表達，有時候不是1、2、3、4……就能說清的，很多情況下，我們要用到”第一“、”第二“、”第三“……，在英語中，這類數(shù)詞被叫做”序數(shù)詞“。常見的有以下幾種情景：

1.詢問日期：

Q：What's the date today? 今天幾號？

A：It's March (the) sixth. 今天3月6日。

2.描述名次

She was the third in the exam. 她那次考試第三名。

3.描述先后次序

He came in first. 他第一個進來。

除了描述日期以外，其他用到序數(shù)詞的情況都明顯包含了”次序“的含義，大家不假思索就知道什么情況下要用到序數(shù)詞了。

怎么把基數(shù)詞變成序數(shù)詞？

1.從1-19，一般情況下（除特殊情況以外）只要在基數(shù)詞后面加上-th就可以了，讀作-[θ]，如下所示：

特殊拼寫:

1 one → first ? 2 two?→ second ? 3 three?→ third ? 5 five?→ fifth ?

8 eight?→ eighth ??9 nine?→ ninth ?12 twelve?→ twelfth ?

規(guī)則拼寫：

2.從20開始，10的整數(shù)倍：將詞尾y變成ie，再加-th構(gòu)成

例：30 thirty?→ thirtieth ? ? 50 fifty?→ fiftieth?

? ? ? 70 seventy?→ seventieth? ? 90 ninety?→ ninetieth

d，thousand，million的序數(shù)詞均在其后加-th構(gòu)成，即hundredth，thousandth，millionth

序數(shù)詞念法：把最后一個基數(shù)詞變成序數(shù)詞

例：156 one hundred and fity-sixth
