韓亞航空空難死亡人數(shù)升至3人:一受傷中國女學(xué)生不治身亡
A Chinese girl hospitalized after the recent Asiana Airlines crash died Friday, raising the death toll of the accident to three.
According to a statement of San Francisco General Hospital, the girl had been under critical condition since she was hospitalized and died as a result of severe injuries inflicted during the accident.
The unnamed girl, who sustained injuries in the head and abdomen, received two surgeries in the hospital, the Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco said earlier this week.
Earlier on Friday, local coroner's office confirmed that one of the first two dead victims was hit by a firetruck, but it has yet to decide whether she died from the impact of the crash or survived the crash only to die in the chaotic aftermath.
The three girls were all members of a student group from China's eastern Zhejiang povince travelling to attend a summer camp in the United States.
Thirty-one members of the group boarded an Air China flight on Friday to head back to China, while another two such groups, comprised of 35 students and teachers from the central province of Shanxi, decided to continue their planned trip in the United States and left their hotel in San Francisco Friday morning, the Chinese Consulate General said.
A total of 141 Chinese were aboard the ill-fated Asiana Airlines Flight 241, which broke off its tail and burst into flames after it veered off the runway upon landing at San Francisco International Airport Saturday morning.
Among the 291 passengers on board, more than 180 passengers were hospitalized for injuries.
