AUGUSTANA是一個alternative rock的band隊，最初是由就讀于伊利諾州格林維爾學院的Dan Layus(主唱)，Josiah Rosen(吉他主音，和聲)，Kyle Baker(鼓)和Simeon Lohrmann(貝司)四人組成的。并且在他們大學期間，他們到處演出，并且在錄音室，獨自完成了自己的第一張專輯Midwest Skies and Sleepless Mondays，踏出了在音樂路途上的第一步。之后，他們很快的又發(fā)行了Mayfield EP，與此同時，Kyle Baker(鼓)和Simeon Lohrmann(貝司)選擇了繼續(xù)學業(yè)而離開了這個樂團。但過不久，樂隊又很快地加入了新的鼓手Josh Calhoun和貝司手Jared Palomar，這才重新建立起了Augustana。新建后的樂隊很快的在2004年，飛往洛杉磯去尋找簽約，并且在加州與Epic Records簽下一紙合約。再之后，便隆重的推出了他們簽約后第一張大碟All the Stars and Boulevards（星光大道），正猶如專輯名稱那樣，他們希望以次踏上音樂的星光大道。Augustana的歌曲中，也許最受人關注，也是最著名的一首歌就是Boston，一首非常美妙的歌曲，歌曲一開始是鋼琴的單音節(jié)，但是婉轉的鋼琴聲，美妙的旋律卻能在第一時間抓住聽眾的耳朵，主唱帶有磁性的聲音把歌曲演繹得淋漓盡致。因此歌曲也實至名歸，一舉打入Billboard流行熱門單曲榜Top34、熱門單曲榜Top31、熱門成人榜Top10。此時，有人把Augustana比作是Cold play 與Keane的完美結合，但是Augustan就是Augustan。于2006年，Josiah Rosen也離開了樂隊，隨之，Chris Sachtleben 與 David Lamboureux加入，由他們，重新完整起了如今真正意義上的Augustana。
