Although it may be obvious where you should buy clothes, when should you buy them? When do American stores hold their big sales, clearances, and special promotions? When can you get the most bang for your buck? Retail stores often have a few items on sale year-round. Toward the back of each store, there will be a section or a few racks of last-season items that will be discounted from their original price. There are, however, certain times of year, when the season changes, where the selection of discount goods will be even bigger. These times of year are: The End of the Year Sale: After Christmas and New Year's Day, retail stores discount all the merchandise they did not sell by the end of the year. Discounts will start immediately following Christmas day, December 25th, and items will get cheaper as stores get rid of their winter wear. Alternately, the biggest shopping day in America is the day after Thanksgiving -- known as "Black Friday" -- because that day officially marks the beginning of the holiday shopping season. The Fourth of July Sale: This starts at the beginning of July and is used by retail stores to get rid of summer merchandise.
