7th Victim Dies in Shooting at Chinese Restaurant in Germany

A shooting rampage at a Chinese restaurant in the German town of Sittensen, Lower Saxony, has claimed a seventh life, a police spokesman said Tuesday.

The man who was critically wounded in Monday's shooting incident died, he said, adding that "I had little hope of being able to question the man" a staff member at the restaurant.

Six other people, three women and three men, were found shot dead in the small hours of Monday at the Lin Yue restaurant, 45 km southwest of Hamburg.

A Chinese diplomat based in Hamburg told Xinhua that none of the victims was of Chinese nationality, citing police as saying that they were holding passports of Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and Britain.

Husband of one of the woman victims discovered his dead spouse and the five other fatalities as he went to pick her up from the restaurant at the end of her shift at half past midnight.

The man called police and a murder inquiry was launched, but detectives said they still had no clue about the motive of the shooting.
