“尷尬癥”,用英語怎么說?

最近很多朋友和英大抱怨自己遇到很尷尬的處境,例如:吃飯沒帶錢,老板在訓人自己沒忍住偷笑,或者是把小抄傳到監(jiān)考員手中。真的大麻煩,好尷尬??!今天英大就教教大家除了awkward 以外還可以用那些方法來表達尷尬。
in a devil of a hole [俚]處境非常尷尬
devil hole 直譯就是“魔鬼洞”,形容自身處境非常艱難尷尬,就像是深入魔鬼的洞穴,英大想想都覺得可怕
e.g. Joe is in a devil of a hole.
喬現(xiàn)在處境非常尷尬。
e.g. It put me in a devil hole of having to lie.
這令我陷入了不得不說謊的尷尬境地。

2.a trying situation 難處境況,尷尬處境
“trying situation”除了可以形容嚴峻困窘意外,還有“不要意思的局面”,“令人傷腦筋的局面”
e.g. That is a trying situation.
那是一個不好意思的局面。
e.g. It was a trying situation.
這是一個讓人傷腦筋的局面。
e.g.The public finance of China is now in a trying situation.
我國財政正處于嚴峻的困窘境地。

3.“hot”也可以用來表示你的尷尬
①make it hot for him
使之對他有害的,讓你不好過。
e.g. The police say they'll make it really hot for Barry if they catch him a second time driving his car without tax.
警方說,如果他們第二次抓住馬里沒有交納牌照稅,他們將會讓他不好過的。
②in the hot seat
處于尷尬的處境,如坐針氈。
e.g.On the business front, IT executives are frequently in the hot seat when it comes to justifying their budgets.
在業(yè)務上,當涉及到說明自己預算合理性時,IT執(zhí)行人員往往處于尷尬的位置。
P.S. “hot seat”也有身負重任,挑大梁的意思。
e.g.He is to remain in the hot seat as chief executive.
他將繼續(xù)留在公司首席行政官這個身負重任的位子上。
e.g.You make the decisions - you're in the hot seat now!
你得做決定,這現(xiàn)在是你的責任了。
③in hot water
在熱水里?它的意思并不是“在熱水中”,它的確切意思是指某人或某些人遇到非常麻煩的問題了,表現(xiàn)得尷尬焦躁不安。
e.g.He was found cheating on the exam, and now he's in hot water.
他考試作弊被發(fā)現(xiàn)了,現(xiàn)在他可麻煩了。
e.g. I'm sorry I can't lend you money. I myself am in hot water.
抱歉,沒錢借給你了,我現(xiàn)在也是麻煩纏身呢。
e.g. John lost his credit card and he was in hot water.

4.Facepalm 捂臉
A facepalm is the physical gesture of placing one's hand flat across one's face or lowering one's face into one's hand or hands.
捂臉,指的是用手捂住臉或?qū)⒛樎襁M手掌的動作。
這個動作多用來表達沮喪或者尷尬,或者是“你怎么這么傻愣”,“你高興就好”以及“天下我只服你一人”等情況。

在MTV臺播放由莫莉?塔洛芙飾演的Awkward,就被翻譯成《囧女珍娜》。所以,“囧”就可以用awkard了。
