兩者都可表示“慢”，但slow通常只與少數(shù)動詞(如 go, drive, pass, climb, run, walk 等)連用，且應置于其后；而slowly則用法較廣，且可置于動詞之前或之后，有時還可置于句首。如：

He walked slowly [slow] up the path. 他沿著那條小路慢慢地走著。

She slowly opened the door. 她慢慢地把門打開。

Slowly, things began to improve. 情況漸漸有了好轉。

Negotiations were going slowly, and not well. 談判進展緩慢，也不順利。

It is a good habit to eat slowly. 吃東西慢一點是好習慣。

He walked slowly past the house. 他從屋旁慢慢走過。

The balloon rose up slowly into the air. 氣球冉冉升入空中。

Then the audience dispersed slowly. 然后觀眾慢慢散去.

【注】在某些特殊句型(如感嘆句等)中，slow也可放在主語之前。如：

How slow [slowly] the time passes! 時間過得真慢!

The slower you drive, the safer you are. 車開得越慢就越安全。
